Innovators are praised for ushering in big changes, but the achievement is made possible by the community of people who demand it. In this category, artists reflect on the people of Canada: now and then, old and young, leaders and communities, noticed and ignored, different and the same.
Who do you look up to and how do those people influence your future aspirations? Are there people in Canada that you know or look up to from afar that play an important part in shaping the person you are today or the person you hope to become?
البلد
Our land: How do we use it? Abuse it? Live on it? Live because of it? Help it? Heal it? Admire it? Reconstruct it? In this category, the artists reflect on Canada's vast land as a source of personal inspiration and a place with its own unique story.
Where do you live, work, play, eat and shop? What are some of your favourite places and how did it come to be the place that it is today? When was it built and is it currently used for the same purpose that the space was originally built for?
Where did you grow up and did the original surroundings of your home look different when your parents or grandparents were growing up? Are there buildings or roads where there were once farms or forests? How do you think the environment around you has influenced the person that you are today? For example, is the food that you eat from the land where you live? Are the sports or hobbies that you enjoy unique to your town or city? How does the climate or geography where you live influence your idea of nature's beauty?
الوقت
Canada has a long and diverse history with highs and lows, heroes and rogues. In this category, the artist is the storyteller of our nation's past and the inventor of our future.
Do people today have the same rights, values, wants and needs as they did 100 years, or even 1000 years ago? What will your generation be remembered for? What movements made waves from generations past?
